Situation#
IAL InLab is a platform that supports innovation initiatives within the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL). Some parts of the platform would break whenever certain content fields were left empty in Storyblok CMS.
Task#
As a Frontend Developer at Amber Creative, I worked with the project managers to find and fix the functional bugs across the platform.
Action#
Together with the project managers, I identified the functional bugs across the platform and fixed them. One key fix was for the content fields that could come back empty from the CMS: I used the nullish coalescing operator (??) to give them safe fallback values, so the interface handles empty values without breaking.
Result#
A more reliable platform for both visitors and the content team, with pages that keep working even when a content field is left empty.
